The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, will leave Auckland this evening for Taranaki, where his Excellency will fulfil several engagements. They will return to Auckland, next Tuesday.

An Auckland Press Association message states that Mr Leslie Lefeaux, governor designate of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, is a. passenger by the Rangitane, which will arrive at Auckland from England on loth March. At the Fire Brigade Conference in Hamilton yesterday, officers for the United Fire Brigades Association Accident Assurance Society were elected as follow: —President, Superintendent L. J. Bennett (Nelson); vice-presidents, Foreman H. W. James (Whangarei), and Mr D. J. Ferguson (Gisborne); treasurer, Mr C. A. Osborne (Onehunga); secretary, Mr T. J. Watts (Newmarket).

Archdeacon W. A. E. Fitchett has accepted nomination as Bishop of Dunedin. He will remain Vicar of Roslyn Parish, and will occupy the vicarage, the stipend to be devoted to provide the assistance of a parish priest, and to defray • certain other costs. This arrangement has been made owing to the revenue from the Bishopric endowment fund being insufficient for the new Bishop to accept office and take up his residence at the #Bff-hq,use. 5
