TRAWLER SINKS
CREW RESCUED. (Received Monday, 10.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The trawler Unique sank off the South Coast last night, and the crew of seven was rescued by the steamer Bermagui and brought to Sydney. The Unique was steaming up the coast off Newliaven when it was noticed that the plates were leaking. The water entered so fast that the master (Captain Bell) decided to abandon the vessel. The crew were lowered into the boats and made for Newliaven. They had rowed some miles when they saw the lights of the Bermagui and signalled her. The Unique was formerly a tug.
