LAUNCH MISSING
TRAGEDY FEARED. WRECKAGE WASHED ASHORE. WELLINGTON, Monday. A search conducted on sea, land, and hy air, failed to locate a launch from the Island Bay fishing fleet, which was •caught in a strong southerly gale, when her engine broke down near Baring Head early this morning. Grave fears for the safety of the crew were entertained when pieces of wreckage believed to be part of the missing launch Santina were washed up at Breaker Bay during the afternoon. There were three men and a boy of fifteen on board the launch. The crew comprised Vincesco Costa, aged 50 (skipper), 24 Trent Street, Island Bay; Paolo Panozzo, aged 42, 11 Trent Street, Island Bay; Generara Amitrano, aged 40. >lB Reef Street, Island Bay, and Rookd Frank Alley, aged' 15, 18 Reef Street, Island Bay. The search will be continued to-mor-row at daybreak. Mr A. Dellabarca, of Eastbourne, accompanied by a number of residents from the Bay, will leave for Penearrow Lighthouse to comb the coast in that vicinity. Other parties will leave in launches from Island Bay.—(P.A.)
