A TAME EXHIBITION. WIN FOR SINGLETON. INVERCARGILL, Monday. A professional heavy-weight boxing contest this evening between Alan dampbell (12.5), of Timaru, and George Singleton (13.10), of Invercargill (formerly of Australia), was won by Singleton on points, after a tame exhibition. The referee urged the pair several times to make a fight of it. The decision in favour of Singleton met with a hostile reception. In the preliminary bouts, J. Richmond (Otago) beat M. Paulin (Southland), Reidy (Southland) beat W. FranH (Otago).—(P.A.) Ted Carrig, professional featherweight boxer, of Masterton, who fights Ken... yKnueklcy at Waipukurau on Thursday night, 28th September, is showing the best form of his career under his mentor, Mr P. Ryan, and on liis present form looks a winner.
