DUAL POSITIONS.
(To'the Editor.) : Sir, —In your issue of even date, I notice that a prize of £SO has been -awarded to our local picture- '.theatre .manager. He is congratulated on this achievement; also on the displays in -the theatre lobbies and the general conduct and cleanliness of .(the theatres under his control—-excepting for one particular feature. Why, especially at the present time, 'do*we find a fulLy employed .girl in a local office, officiating nightly at one of. the theatres-? There- are surely in this town girls out of employment who would be only too- pleaseffsto accept a -small job like this and be glajd of the opportunity to augment the eatJfc' ings of perhaps* a needful family am, etc., “WAKEFUL.” Masterton, 28-tlx June. # (On‘the above letter being referred to Mr Tong, he pointed out that only one member of /a considerable staff employed at theiitheatres occupied a dual position. He said that the girl referred to by “Wakeful” occupied a responsible position on his staff, and had proved most efficient. Mr Tong further said that he took this opportunity to convey his thanks to all who had assisted in helping him to win the prize mentioned in the above letter. —Ed., W.D.T.)
