CRUELTY.

(To the Editor)

,Sir,—Does Masterton possess a member of tlie Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals? If so, I would like to draw attention to an incident which happened in Dixon Street, opposite the Technical School. A man (I' wish I could apply another team) with two- Alsatian dogs allowed them to enter a garden and tear a cat to pieces while he made no effort to -y&ll • them off. It was a harrowing spec«!o for school children to see: A woipWn, the owner of the cat., weeping over the dying animal, two savage wolfhounds and an indifferent owner sitting on horseback. My opinion of Alsatian dogs is that they are a-everting by inbreeding back to the wolf and should be kept on a leash in public streets. My earnest wish is that the Society will place the owner of the dogs on “the carpet for his callousness. —I am, etc., HUMAN. Masterton, '29th June.
