RELIEF WORKERS

MASTERTON UNION MEET. RESOLUTIONS PASSED. At a. well attended meeting of members of the Mas ter ton Relief Workers’ Uiiion held last night it was decided to affiliate with the National Union. A resolution was passed according support to the Hawke’s Bay relief workers. The following (resolutions were passed: — (1) “That the Masterton Relief Workers’ Union become affiliated with the National Union of Unemployed, the object of such being to unite the unemployed workers of New Zealand into a national non-party organisation. ’ ’ (2) “That all employed workers, male or female, be invited to become associate members of the Masterton Relief Workers’ Union.’’ i(3) “That this meeting of Masterton relief workers congratulates the Hawke’s Bay relief workers on the stand they have taken and that we pledge ourselves to strongly oppose maintenance works or works provided for on the estimates being carried out by relief workers at relief rates of pay.” ,(4) “That this meeting of relief workers held in Masterton the 28th inst. is clearly of the opinion that Mr Roxborough’s housing scheme for unemployed is definitely of a constructive nature, promising to solve many of the relief workers’ difficulties and has no hesitation in recommending the Unemployment Board to adopt this scheme. A copy of this resolution to be sent to the Unemployment Board, National Union of Unemployed,, and the Press.”
