W.F.C.A.

STAFF BALL. A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. One of the most successful functions of recent years was the W.F.C.A. staff ball held last night in the Town Hall. There was a very large attendance, including visitors from Wellington, Hawke’s Bay and Manawatu. The ball was excellently managed and all present spent a most enjoyable time. The main hall and supper room were artistically decorated. The stage decorations were particularly attractive, while there were also a number of prettily-arranged lounges. Messrs. O’Hagen, Wakelin, D. Hogg and Johnston were responsible -for the decorations in the main hall, Mr A. Dixon devised and carried 1 out the stage scheme, and Mr L. Brooks attended to the decorations in the supper room.

The supper arrangements were of the usual high standard and were the subject of much favourable comment. The success of the ball was in a large measure due to the excellent work of the joint secretaries, 'Messrs A. E. O’'Leary and R. J. Whiteman. The duties of M’s.C. were capably carried out by Messrs Y. O. Taylor, D. Hogg, L. Brooks and J. Wakelin. Excellent music was supplied by Prank Pool’s Blue River 'Dance Band, while the extras ware played by Minifie’s Orchestra, to whom the organisers are greatly indebted. The staff ladies’ committee, which was responsible for the excellent supper arrangements, was as follows: — Misses R. Gadsby (secretary), Wood, Both l we 11, Boys, 'Grant, Holman, Collier, Pike, Pireston, Walton, Finlayson and Sutherland.
