IRISH ELECTIONS

ALLEGED INTIMIDATION ENQUIRY DEMANDED. Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, Thursday. The “Daily Telegraph’s” correspondent at Dublin says that Mr Hassett, a former Cosgrave member of the Dail, has written to Mr de Valera, demanding an enquiry into intimidation amounting to a reign of terror in Tipperary, making a free election impossible. He says that people are afraid to let rooms to Cosgravites under a threat of boycott. It is impossible to hire motor cars, cattle belonging to all known Cosgravites are being driven off their owners’ land, and fences are being torn down. He is constantly shadowed by two youths, whom he believes to be in the pay of a secret body. Even old age pensioners are threatened with loss of tlieir pensions if they do not vote for de Valera candidates.
