OBITUARY

THOMAS VICTOB MOORE. The death took place at Carterton this morning of Mr Thomas Victor Moore, a well-known settler of the Wairarapa. The late Mr Moore, who was 67 years of age, was the third son of the late Mr and Mrs Thomas Moore, pioneer settlers of the Wairarapa. He was born in Carterton and had spent the whole of his life in the district. In partnership with his brothers, he was engaged in farming. For some time past the late Mr Moore had not en'eyed the best of health, and on Tuesday suffered a stroke, from which lie! never rallied. A year or two ago lie spent several months at Singapore in the course of a health-recruiting trip. The late Mr Moore took an active interest in local body matters, and had a record of thirty-five years’ continuous service, first with the old Taratahi Road Board, and then the Wairarapa South County Council, of which he was chairman at the time of his death. lie was one of the original promoters of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board, first as a member of the investigation committee, and then as a member of the Board, and remained a member up to May last, and during the latter period of his association with the Board was its chairman. die was also one of the County Council representatives on the Wairarapa Hospital Board. The late Mr Moore, who was unmarried, is survived by a sister and five brothers.
