The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe . ..left Wellington to-day on an official visit to Napier. Lord Bledisloe officially visited Waipukurau this afternoon. A London cable advises that Sir T. Yansittart Bowater (Lord Mayor of London 1913-14) leaves London on 3rd February for India and /thence to Australia, New Zealand and Canada, on a health trip. A Sydney cable states that, having accepted the appointment of AgentGeneral in London for Western Australia, Sir ’Hal Colebatch intends resigning from the Senate. This will be Sir Hal 'Colebatch’s second term as Agent-General. Mr Lewis Taylor, who was severely injured in an aviation accident at Johnsonville laSt September, is still an inmate of a private hospital. Mr Taylor and Mr P. de Tourettes, both of whom are members of the Wellington Aero Club,, were returning from an air pageant at Levin when they had engine trouble over Johnsonville. Mr Taylor has undergone several operations, and it will bo some months yet before he is able to leave the hospital. There was a very large and representative attendance of mourners at the funeral of the late Mr Frederick Exell, which took place at the Masterton Cemetery yesterday afternoon. Many beautiful wreaths were received, amongst others from Knox Presbyterian Church, the W.C.T.U., and the Masterton County Council, bodies with which the late Mr lExcll had been closely identified over a long period of years. The Rev. John Davie was the officiating minister, while an impressive lodge service was conducted by a member of the Foresters * Lodge. The pallbearers were two members of the Foresters’ Lodge and four representatives of Knox Church office bearers.
