LECTURES TO FARMERS
DEMONSTRATIONS IN WAIRARAPA A round o!f instructional lectures on tlic growing of supplemeivtlary fodder, includiing lucerne, flic making - >f ensilage, and tire certifi cation of rye-grass reed, is at present being undertaken by Air S. Freeman, Government Fields Instructor, accompanied by Mr W. .). McCullough, Superintendent of the Fields Division, and Mr dames Watson, Provincial .Secretary of the Farmers’ Fnion. Mr .Freeman addressed a meeting of settlers at Tawalia on Monday night, when there was an attendance of thirty farmers. .Mr Freeman illustrated various points of liis address with many interesting lantern slides. As a result of the meeting the -party was ■called upon to investigate numerous lucerne stands, and give assistance in the making of ensilage. On Tuesday afternoon, Featllicrston •fanners gathered at Mr d. Car lie Bidwill’s pro]lenty at Pilmutea, where a demonstration was given at the trial, plods of ryegrass established there. In the evening a. meeting of Dycrville settlers- was held, there being a satisfactory aft on dan.ee, and Monday evening’s lecture was repeated. Yesterday Mr Freeman continued his personal calls on farmers in the Feather - ston area, and addressed a meo ting of settlers in- -the South Fea-therston Hall last night.
