CHURCH OF EPIPHANY

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of tho Church of Epiphany Avas held last night in the School Room, the "VTear of the Parish (Rev. E. J. Rich) presiding oyer a fair attendance of members. The Rev. E. McLevie Avas also present. In moving the adoption of the balance sheet, the Vicar first of all expressed thanks to those present for venturing out on such a wet and a\ ild night. The year had been a difficult one for all concerned, yet notAA ithstanding the times the year’s operations financially A\’cre remarkable, receipts from all sources exceeding those of the previous year, the credit balance at the end of the year being £76 in excess of 1931. The Church attendances had been exceedingly well maintained, and the alteration of holding the Sunday School services in the afternoon instead of the morning was most successful, the number of children noAv attending being greater than for many years past, Tho twentieth anniversary services held last November Avere a great success, due to the splendid organisation of helpers. The formation of a choir AA’as a most useful adjunct to their services and Avas greatly appreciated by the c-lergy as well as the congregation. Thanks .to Mr and Mrs S. L. P. Free placing their asphalt tennis court at the disposal of the church, a tennis club for tiie young members of the Church had been formed and Avas the means of providing a splendid social service in connection Avith their AY-ork. Latterly a Social Club had been started Avliich will organise functions during the year. The Vicar expressed his grateful and heartfelt thanks to all who had assisted so generously to bring about such satisfactory results, the Ladies’ Guild in particular again proving such n tower of strength socially and financially. The adoption of tlic balance-sheet was duly carried. The following Avere elected as the committee f-or the current year: Mesdames A. T. Jackson, J. G. Miller, I’. Whittou, Miss E. Pearce, Messrs. R. Bell, G. J. Heath, F. W. Heaven, W. Henson, L. Johns, J. H. Minton, W. Nichols, F. Whitton; lion, treasurer, Mr H. M. Boddington. Hearty votes of thanks and appreciation AA’erc passed to the Ladies’ Guild, church cleaners, members responsible for the Sanctuary flowers, Miss AshAvcll for attending to the altar linen, Miss M. McKenzie, hon. organist; Miss Dorothy Kemp for her Sunday School work; Mr Joseph loins and tho Sedgley boys for general assistance.

The clergy and lay readers were accorded by acclamation a hearty vote of thanks for their services during the past year.
