NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW

PREPARATIONS IN HAND. It is a matter for all round gratification to know that while the shadow of depression is exerting its sinister influence, in every phase of industrial enterprise the Manawatu and vVost Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association maintains the same steadfast and dogged spirit of optimism which has always characterised its activities. Obstacles to its progress have always been met with renewed determination to succeed with the result that from the small but solid foundations laid nearly half a century ago a great and worthy institution has been built up which reflects unstinted credit to its promoters and the centre in which its activities are conducted. The scope of the Association’s operations and influence are truly national in conception and performance, therefore it is not to know that the Winter fixture has been planned upon lines which, while preserving all previous exhibitions of dairy, farm produce, stock, home industries and ring competitions many new features of educational value have been introduced which make the schedule the most comprehensive that has yet been issued. Realising what it means to the city a praiseworthy effort to co-operate in promoting the well-being and attractiveness of the Show the committee recently appointed by the citizens of Palmerston North has brought forward a number of suggestions which have been adopted as a means of making the fixture bigger, brighter and better and still more interesting than ever. Doubtless the whole community will appreciate the continued efforts that are being made by the Association to * preserve its place in the van of agricultural and pastoral exhibitions, by supporting the promoters in every way possible. Entries for all classes close on Saturday, 28th May. Schedules for all competitive classes will be posted free on application to the secretary, Mr W. T. Penny, P.O. Box So, Palmerston North. |
