FLYING

STRUCK BY LIGHTNING A LINER’S EXPERIENCE. Press Association E'ectric Telegraph—Copyright (Received Tuesday, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, Monday. The Imperial Airways’ giant liner Horatius was flying across the Channel with thirteen passengers, and while at an altitude of 2000 feet among the clouds over Tonbridge, was struck by lightning. The wireless aerial fused, and part of the equipment dropped off, but the pilot, crew and passengers were not injured. The pilot cautiously returned to Croydon, where the passengers were transfered to another liner, and continued their voyage to Paris.
