TRAMPING CLUB
MR. GOLDJMAN FAREWELLED. Fourteen members of the Wairarapa Tramping Club, including several ladies, participated in a weea-end tramp through the Mount Holdsworin reserve. As the weather was line tnrouguout, the trip was a most enjoyable one. The party, which left' town on Saturday afternoon, spent Saturday night at the Mountain liut. In tlic morning sonic of the more energetic members climbed to the summit wnere they encountered heavy wind which made it almost impossible to stand. On the return of these members the whole party set out down the mountain side by way of the Mangatarera Track to Carterton, where tliev connected with a bus which brought them back to Mastei'ton in the late afternoon. As the trip was in the nature of a farewell outing for the president of the club, Mr G. J. Goldsman, who is shortly taking up his residence in Wellington, opportunity was taken to farewell him at a pleasant informal gathering round a roaring fire in the Iloldswortn Hut on Saturday night. The vice-president, Mr T. Aplin, on behalf of the club, expressed regret that this was the last occasion on which Mr Goldsman would be out with them, and conveyed thanks to him for his work in founding the club and for his activity in its interests since its inception. What success the club had achieved was undoubtedly largely due to his energy. Other members of the club expressed similar sentiments. Mr Goldsman expressed regret that he could no longer be actively associated with the club, and hoped that it would continue to prosper.
