POTATO DISEASE

OUTBREAK AT KAIAPCI. CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday. Some potato crops in the Kaiapoi district are badly affected with a disease which is said to be suspiciously like Irish blight. The stalks arc dying off, but only in a few cases have the tubers been observed to be affected. Samples of the affected plants and tubers have been sent to the Agricultural TJe'inrtmcnt for expert examination.—(P.A.)
