STOLEN CHILD
THE LIHDBER6 AFFAIR SPECTACULAR OFFER. Press Asajiki.Lu Electric Telegraph—Copj-right NEW YORK, Friday. A spectacular offer of assistance for the private search by Colonel Charles Lindbergh for his kidnapped infant son came to-night from “Scarfacc” Al. Capone, who is in gaol. The Chicago gang chief offered to post a £40,000 bond if the Federal Government would release him to join in the hunt for the child.
The baby is still missing. That fact has been officially confirmed by the family, and has set at rest another crop of wild rumours and reports, the principal feature of which was the insistent allegation that the baby had been, or was about to be, returned. Another fantastic story among many gaining currency during the day was that Colonel Lindbergh, disguised in the striking uniform of a New Jersey State trooper, was making mysterious lone night rides, ostensibly for the purpose of following clues.
There is no authenic news of any nature.
