MEETING CF DIRECTORS. The president (}.lr 11. M. Peae.vk) presided over the monthly meeting cf the Y.M.C.A. directors held last evening. The general secretary’s report tor Februarv was chiefly concerned with routine business matters. In the senioi department, the Esperanto and Optimists’ Club were both planning for successful seasons, while the principal activity in the junior department for the month was cricket. The association was still doing considerable service to the community in connection with juvenile delinquents, Flock House boys and assisting various other organisations.
Reference was made to the splendid work of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, and a brief report given on tlie presentation hv the directors of an illuminated letter of appreciation to Mrs A. C. Cameron on her departure from Masterton. The financial statement showed a small credit balance for the month which was regarded as very satisfactory under the circumstances. Membership figures totalled 356 all told. Two new members were elected at the meeting. A suggestion to extend the wintei work of the association beyond the present premises was well received, and a committee of three directors was appointed to investigate the possibilities of serving youth in other neighbourhoods. It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the association on Tuesday, 22nd March, the meeting to take the form of a tea as in previous years. . Four retiring directors were nominated for re-election. The meeting agreed to the proposal that in view of the expense entailed, no convention of tlie New Zealand Y.M.C.A.’s should be held this year, and the national committee was duly authorised to carry on for a further 12 months.
LADIES’ AUXILIARY. The monthly meeting of the Y.M.C.A. Ladies’ Auxiliary was held yesterday afternoon in the association’s rooms, Mrs Welch, vice-president, presiding. A letter was received from the late president, Mrs A. C. Cameron, wishing the Auxiliary well in the work of the coming year. Appreciation of the assistance given l,y the auxiliary to the funds of the association was expressed in a letter received from the Directorate. It was decided to appoint a committee of three to be a Duty Committee for cadi month, the committee to be responsible for social functions and flowers. The monthly meeting of the Auxiliary was followed by the annual meeting, presided over by Mr A. E. Bate, general secretary of the association. The annual report of the Auxiliary traversed in detail the activities and functions of tlie previous year which had been an exceedingly busy one. A great deal bad been accomplished, of which the Auxiliary eoukl be proud, and the hope was expressed that the new year would lie even more successful. Appreciation was expressed to all who had assisted in making the year a success. At the conclusion of. business, afternoon tea was dispensed, the past year’s officers acting as hostesses.
