The Rev. Father Mark O ’Leary, S.M., is at present visiting Masterton. Mr. David Jones has been re-appoint-ed chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. According to a cable the Britijpfi Admiralty announces that Rear-Admiral Erle-Drax is to be Commander-in-Chief of the American and West Indies station in succession to Vice-Admiral Sir Vernon Haggard, the appointment to date from April 2. Rear-Admiral Dunbar Naismith is to be Commander-in-Chief of the East Indies station in succession to Vice-Admiral Fullerton, the appointment to date from April 29. At the meeting” of the Masterton Borough Council last night the Mayor, Mr. T. Jordan, made reference to the late Mr. Seandrett, who, he said, had been a most considerate and painstaking officer and had served the for 30 years. He moved that a letter be sent to the late officer’s brother, setting out the Council’s appreciation of the services of the late Mr.,Seandrett and expressing sympathy rjfcth the relatives in their loss. The Mayor’s motion was passed, the members of the Council standing in silence as a mark of respect.

There was a very large and representative attendance yesterday at the funeral of the late Mr. A. C. Seandrett. Services at the house of Mr. Gordon Seandrett and at the graveside in the Masterton Cemetery were conducted by the Rev. E. M. McLevie. Many beautiful wreaths were received, amongst others from the Masterton Borough Council and from the Government Departments with which the late Mr. Seandrett was associated. The pall-bearers were the Mayor (Mr. T. Jordan), the Town Clerk (Mr. T. T. Denbee), -representing the Borough Council; Messrs. A. T. P. Hubbard, T. 11. Hankin, J. C. Maekley and J.
