BOWLING NOTES

(By “The Bowler.”) bell shield. A match was played yesterday on the Masterton Club’s green, for the above shield, between the holders, D. Thomson, E. Reid, W. Wilkinson and Baskiville (s) of the Masterton Club, and T. Pinkney, Stewart, W. Gibson and Rowlands (s) of the Park Club. The result ivas a win for the holders by 2d points to 17. Park started well, on the 4th. head the scores were Park 10, Masterton 0. On the 10th. head the scores were Park 14, Masterton 7. Masterton scored a single on the 11th head, and the Park a single on the 12th. head, the scores being Park 15, Masterton 8. Masterton then put on 2,4, 1, 5,1, 1, on the succeeding heads, the score board at the 18th. head, showing Park 15, Masterton 22. Park scored 1 on the 19th. head and on the 20th., but then Masterton put on 2 on the last head, leaving the holders winners by 24 to 17.

It was pleasing to note that a large number of bowlers were present to witness the game, the Park bowlers being specially interested.
