VALUABLE DISCOVERY EARLY MEXICO LINK. .Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright MEXICO CITY, Sunday. A Mexican tomb, just uncovered near Oaxaca, was revealed to-day to bo a veritable storehouse of historical material and treasures of fifteenth century Mexican civilisation. It is believed that the sepulchre represents the richest and most important discovery ever made in North America and rivals, historically and intrinsically, the tomb of Tutankhamen. The tomb contained tho bodies of ten Mexican warriors bedecked with gold and precious and semi-precious stones and jewels, including several, crowns of pure gold, pearls as largo as pigeons’ eggs, jade necklaces, golden masks, and vases of gold, alabaster and onyx.
Oaxaca is the capital of the Southern Mexican State of the same name. _ According to tradition tho Aztec military post and town of Iluaxyacac . was founded in 1486 on or near tho site of the present city. The date of the first Spanish settlement is unknown, but probably was between 1522 and 1525. Much of the Aztec remains in this area have been destroyed by earthquakes.
