There is a revival of the illegal activities of Congress in Calcutta and Bombay. At the latter place, the police dispersed a defiant crowd by a baton charge in which fifteen were injured. Strong action is being taken to prevent the boycotting and picketing of traders. The markets are thoroughly guarded.
MURDER CHARGE.
CASE COLLAPSES,

CALCUTTA, Wednesday.
The ease against Bimal Das Gupta, charged with murdering Mr I’eddie, the District Magistrate, at Midnapore, in Bengal, on April 7, collapsed owing to witnesses going back on 'statements originally made before the’ magistrates, so the prosecution was withdrawn. Gupta is serving a sentence of 10 years for attempted murder of Mr Edward Yilliers, President of the European Association.
