WIRTH’S CIRCUS
SHOWING- IN MASTERTON TO-MORROW NIGHT.
Messrs. Wirth Bros. ’ Circus will open a season of oho night in Masterton tomorrow, Friday, January 15, with their latest importantion, Kazbeg’s Troupe of Russian Cossacks, daredevil riders, from the Caucasus. These intrepid riders, it is stated, perform feats of horsemanship that dazzle description. From the moment they appear in the ring till their concluding feat, the Cossacks have the onlookers thrilled at the veij daring of the numbers enacted by them. From the steppes of Russia, Kazbeg’s troupe of Cossacks competed against the very best of America’s cowboys at the New York Rodeo ot 1909 and in every event the Cossacks defeated the hitherto unconquerable Yankees. Where the Cossacks differ from other equestrian acts is that they perform their entire act whilst thensteeds gallop at breakneck speed around the ring. Pyramids. Cavalry, charges, Military Parades are all performed with an ease that astounds. The climax of the act is reached when Fedia, one of the Cossacks, whilst his mount is careering around at a terrific pace, climbs from his saddle completely around the horse, between the beast's forelegs and back to the saddle. The complete stunt bristles with thiills and sensations, and is undoubtedly the most compelling act yet seen in Australia. The boys who defy gravitation m the apt name given by the leading critics after viewing the appearance of the Four Uessems, the famous international balancers and equilibrists, who are to appear with Wirths’ Circus at Masterton together with a full new company of wonderful artists. The Zoo will be open from 4 to 5 p.m.
