DROWNING AT WAIKUKU
CORONER NOT SATISFIED. INQUEST ADJOURNED. CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. An inquest was held into the death of Thomas Hugh Eric Monro, who was drowned at Waikuku yesterday. James Denis Simpson said he got into difficulties in an undertow and shouted to Monro that it would take them all their time to get back. Monro was nearer shore than witness, and when witness last saw him he was standing in three or four feet of water. Witness. who could not swim, floated ashore. Neither had been out of their depth. Tho Coroner said ho was not quite satisfied as to the cause of death and adjourned the inquest sine die to enable a post mortem examination to be made. —(P-A.)
