APPEAL FOR SUPPORT

A. AND P. SOCIETY FUNDS. SUBSCRIPTIONS PALL OFF. A good deal of concern was expressed at the monthly meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Society yesterday afternoon in regard to the fact that only about 25t}lf,out of a total membership of 1000 had paid their subscriptions for the present year. On the suggestion of Mr W. Kemp it was decided to make an appeal to members for their continued support and co-operation, particularly in respect to the payment of subscriptions. It was decided to issue a circular and Messrs. J. M. James and W. F. McLarf- en were appointed to draft it. Messrs. D. McGregor and W. F. McLaren spoke in support of sending out a eircular-xds suggested by Mr Kemp. The secretary (Mr R. H. Williams) said that the total amount received in subscription to date was £269. Those members who had not paid had been circularised in December and as a result £B7 had been, received this month. On the ot!«}r hand, a large number of TCtsigj|jjfcuns(;had also been received. The cost of the circulars would be about £3 or £4. It seems to be cutting things pretty fine, observed Mr Kemp. The Show was only four or five weeks off, and only about a quarter of the members bad paid their subscriptions. They were getting near the Show, said Mr A. Scott, and members who bad the interests of the association at heart would have paid their subscriptions. “You can't get blood out of a stone, and sending out circulars is only throwing good money after bad,” he addc^.
