The Rev. Whitby-Janies and family of .Tinui, are spending a holiday at St. Mark’s Vicarage, Wellington. Mrs. R. Taylor, of Melbourne, has returned to Auckland after spending a holiday with her brother, Mr. R. R. Bishop, Mauriceville.
The retirement is announced of Mr. Maughan Barnett, city organist, of Auckland, after 19 years in 'that position.
Mr. J. T. Grose, general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., has been elected chairman of the Associated Banks in New Zealand for 1932. . ‘
The death is announced of Sir Henry Cowan, aged 69, formerly M.P. (L.), for Guildford, 1966-10; East Aberdeenshire, 1910-22; (U.), N. 29. He travelled extensively and at different times visited all the Dominions.
The marriage was solemnized recently at Knox Church, Masterton, of Mr. Stanley (Mick) Willoughby, younger son of Mr. and Mrs W. R. S. Wolloughby, Masterton, to Miss Hazel Vera Hopkins, youngest daughter of Mrs. W. Hopkins, Cole Street, Masterton. . The Orange Hall was well filled on Saturday evening, the occasion being a most enjoyable dance, given by Mr. and Mrs. H. Cross, of Bannister Street, Masterton, in honour of the coming of age'of their daughter Esme. Mr. J. Henderson carried out the duties of M.C. in his usual capable manner and excellent music was supplied by Master Arnold Barnes.
