GENERAL HART.

ROTARY FAREWELL. There was a large attendance of members and their wives at the weekly luncheon of the Masterton Rotary Club yesterday .afternoon, the occasion being Ladies’ Day. An opportunity was also taken to farewell General 11. E. Hart, prior to his , departure for Samoa. Among the visitors were Eotarians Bowerbank, .Meadows, Ewan, Bull anil Archibald, of Wellington. The president, Mr G. W. .Sellar, who presided, paid a tribute, to the worth of General Hart, who, lie said, was the foundation president of the club, and had wlways been a keen Rotarian. As a small token of the regard in which he was held by members of the club, Mr Sellar presented General Hart with .a clock, engraved with a Rotary emblem. He expressed the best wishes of members for General Hart’s success in his new and important appointment. General Hart expessed his grateful thanks for the kind words of farewell and the gift, and said lie was sure the Masterton Rotary ‘Club was performing very useful service, as tin, 1 movement of Rotary was helping to bring the nations together. He would do all he could to make a success of his new job, both as a Rotariau and a New Zealander.

Dr. Bo wo rb a nk, on behalf of fellowmembers of the 'Wellington. (Rotary Club, said his club members combined in sending greetings to General Hart. They had always regarded the Masterton Club as an offspring of the Wellington Club, and were very proud of the fact that two Masterton Eotarians, Mr S. L. P. Free, a director of Rotary International, and General Hart, in his appointment as Administrator of Western Samoa, had received such distinctions in the past year. The Wellington 'Club wished Gcenral Hart sunshine, a fair wind, and'a happy return.
