The New Zealand horses Stealth and The Swell were unplaced in the Welter. The ex-New Zealander Ashley Reed heads the season’s Melbourne winning jockey’s list with 11 wins from 40 mounts. Reed also won races in Sydney, C. T. Godby heads the trainers’ list with seven wins. S. K. Irving is second with six wins and J. E. Holt and E. Fisher third with five wins.
