SCHOOL AGE.
PROPOSED BRITISH EXTENSION. RITGBY, Tuesday. The Education Minister, Sir Charles Trevelyan, informed a deputation today that the Government hoped the new Education Bill would be carried this year. Regarding the extension of the school age by one year to 15, for which the Bill provides, the Minister said this would serve to free perhaps half a million children from industry and substitute perhaps 150,000 old reople. Parliament, he thought, should be glad to spend on education what it now spendson unemployment benefit.—B.O.W.
