KARA DEFEATS RAY. •(By Telegraph—Press Association). HAWEEA, Tuesday. Gaining a decisive fall in the seventh round, Kara Pasha (12.9) beat Tom Ray (12.8), to-night. The bout was a fast one, with the loser mainly attacking. The Turk shoAved skill in escaping from punishing holds, and Avas speedy in folloiving up an opening. Ray varied the Avrestler’s usual repertoire by butting A\ r ith his shoulder and using rabbit killers. 'There Avere some hectic moments in the bout, especially on tAVO 'occasions, when Ray tlxreAV his opponent oot of the ring. The Turk Avas sloav to begin, Ray holding a decided advantage in the first tAA r o rounds, though unable to hold Kara Pasha long enough to secure a fall. The third round, hoAvever, had not been in progress long Avhen the American neatly threw the Turk. The fifth round suav Kara definitely on top. Both.escaped easily from headlocks, but as he broke a chancery hold the Turk clapped on a head scissors, using a wristloek as Avell. He sloAvly forced his opponent to the mat. The seventh round opened Avith Ray making a wild rush. He butted the Turk hcaA'ily, and then threw him through the ropes. Kara looked a .little dazed, and was throAvn several times with headlocks. He turned suddenly, and after tossing Ray pursued him across the ring. The American bent doAvn, apparently to exploit his leg throAv again, but the Turk caught both his hands and dragged them between his legs. This gave him his chance to secure a double leg hold, with which he turned Ray up, finishing Avith a body press to send the American’s shoulders to the mat. The Turk’s victory met with a mixed reception. Ray’s tactics, though rather willing, met Avith the crowd’s approval.
