“MO BOOM 808 PESSIMISM." The following table shoAving the average prices per pound of butter-fat paid by the dairy companies of NeAV Zealand fotr butter and cheese since the year 1901 is contained in a circular, AA'hieh is being distributed by Mr C. M. Alexander, chairman of directors of the Te AAvamutu Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, among the company’s suppliers: —
“A perusal of these figures shows that the selling price of our product has definitely reached the pre-war level,” states Mr Alexander. “An economic adjustment of values will follow inevitably, but it is a peculiar 10-t of the farmer that he is the first to feel the effect of a world depression, and the last to receive the benefit of the adjustment. ' We accept that as one of the integral risks of our calling, and it augurs well that so many farm erg are facing the altered conditions courageously, adjusting their standards of values and settling down undismayed to the prospect of working longer hours for less money.”
