SPECTACULAR FIRE.
GARAGE DESTROYED. SENSATIONAL EXPLOSION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Thursday. A disastrous fire broke out in the Ford Motor Company’s large garage in Rangitikei and Cuba streets, this evening. Although tho front portion of the building was not seriously damaged, the large rear garage and workshops wore gutted. The fire was a most spectacular one. A sensation was caused by a loud explosion of an acetone Avoiding gas container, windows in the vicinity being brokeib. Seven new and twenty-sCVen second-hand cars wefo destroyed, also ft number of others garaged for different owners.
J. Reid, garago worker, who discovered the outbreak, was very badly burned on the left hand.
Tho water pressure, which was only. 501b5., later dropped to 261 b. at mid-* night, when tho blaze was completely under control.
