mX TAKES POISON. (By ', ■■: ..npli—Press Association.) L'AIMERSTON N., Friday. An inquest is to be held into the circumstances surrounding the death of Captain Henry Cooper, veterinary surgeon, of 250 Cook Street, who died in Palmerston North Hospital last night shortly after admittance. It is, understood that the police received a call to deceased’s residence, and a taxi was summoned to take him to the police station. Just before the vehicle arrived, Captain Cooper, who has been before the Court on several occasions lately, took a small bottle, which had apparently been concealed in the pocket of his coat, and swallowed the contents. He collapsed almost immediately.
