WRESTLING.
A DISGRACEFUL EXHIBITION. REFEREE ATTACKED. (Received Monday, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. There was a disgraceful exhibition of wrestling at the Stadium, when Joe Zikmund (America) attacked the referee, Bridges, and threw him out of the ring. Bridges hurried back and crowned the other wrestler, Jim Browning (America), the winner, whereupon Zikmund rushed the referee again, but was promptly attacked by Browning, who secured a strangle-hold. The referee gave help, and the hostilities then ceased.
The bout from tho beginning -was a series of upper-cuts, thumb and knuckle gouging, and nose and ear pulling. Both men were in a bad way witen they left the ring.—A. and N.Z. P.A.
