STUD SHEEP EXPORT.

SHIPMENTS FOR SOUTH AMERICA. New Zealand sheep-breeders have established a reputation for the quality of their stock in South America, and recent shipments indicate the possibility of establishing a valuable export trade in stud sheep. By the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Matakana, which sailed last night for Montevideo and London, via Cape Horn, there were shipped several valuable consignments of stud sheep for U ruguay and' Argentina. The Matakana also took a small consignment of stud Lincoln, Corricdalc, and Romney rams, to the order ,of Messrs T, and G. Hughes, of Montevideo. There were five Lincoln rams from the flocks of Mr A. D. McMaster and the McGregor Estate, of Masterton, six Corriedale rams from Mr H. T. Little, of Hulii Huhi, and one Corriedale ram from the flock of pure “Little” blood owned by Mr W. White, of Hawarden, Canterbury. The Romneys were three special stud rams bred by Mr F. E. Dorset, of Opaki, and Messrs Blatehford Bros., of Masterton, and purchased at the Wairarapa stud ram fair.

Another- consignment of 30 stud rams forwarded to Messrs T. and G. Hughes, of Monte Video,, included 21 Corfiedales and nine Lincolns. The Gorriedalos,. which were bred by Mr 11. T. One of tiie Romneys, from the flock of Mr Quentin Donald, of Featherston, made the highest price at the Wairarapa sheep fair last January. The other four Romneys, from the Penrose flock .of Messrs William Perry and. Sons, of Masterton, were a prize-winning lot at the Wairarapa fair and show..

The Lincolns, which were all oneshear rams, were a particularly choice lot, They were all bred in the Wairarapa, six being from the flock of Mr W. Raynor, of Masterton, three from yt r A. E. Anderson, of Clareville, and two from the Ale Gregor Estate, Masterton.
