THISTLE BEATS LEEK. LONDON, Saturday. At Edinburgh, Scotland defeated Wales at Rugby football by 8 points to 5, in showery weather. Forty thousand people were present. The Welsh forward rushes frequently worried their opporents, and after 2S minutes’ play, Wales scored a try, which was converted. Then Scotland was twice nearly in, but the passing lacked accuracy. At half-time Wales led by 5 to 0. Five minutes after the resumption, Scotland scored n penalty goal, and, later, a converted try. Wales made desperate efforts to recover. Her forwards repeatedly excelled, and the three-quarters brought off passing movements, but they lacked the pace to carry them through.
