MUSSOLINI AGAIN.

IRONICAL COMMENT.. ON ALLEGATIONS OP TYRANNY. Press Association—Electric Telearanli—CopyrigL (Received Monday, 9.20 a.m.) t- ROME, Sunday. Recent anti-Italian demonstrations in Bavaria on account of the Italian attitude tow.-yds the Austrian inhabitants of Trentino, found ail echo in a speech by Signor Mussolini in the Chamber. With the object of clearing the air, the Premier ironically commented on the. allegations of his tyranny, and declared that, notwithstanding the Fascists’ policy of moderation towards Germany, there had been launched in Germany, after the Locarno agreements, an unscrupulous campaign against Italy, in which ridiculous flattery was mingled with abominable slanders.

He said that the lies spread regarding the Italian administration were leading to a talk of boycotting Italian goods, and stopping tourist traffic to Italy. “If,” lie said, “boycott is established, we will reply with a doublyeffective boycott, while to any reprisals we will reply with reprisals thrice as severe, ’ —Reuter. The Premier, emphasised the moderation of Italy’s policy in Upper Trentino, contrasting it with what the PanGermans would have done in Italian Trentino in the event of a German victory, namely, waged a fierce campaign against the-Italian Irredentism, ec-c-our aging the influx of Germans, and the expulsion of Irredentism until the region became entirely Austrian. Mussolini declared that the Germans did not know the Italians sufficiently. They would learn that the Italians would not yield an inch in the Upper Adige. He said that Italy would apply there, rigorously, methodically and tenaciously, all th© Italian laws passed or to be passed in future, and make th? region Italian.

“To the German nation we sav: The Fascist people wishes to be the sincere friend who looks you straight in the eyes. A friend with clean hands, wao stands outside that kultur which v; have done with,” concluded Mussolini. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
