METHODIST CHURCH.

QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Methodist Churches of Masterton Methodism was held last evening at Kuripum. There was a large and representative gathering. The Rev. Win. Beckett heartily welcomed the new members, especially expressing pleasure at the appointment of tl.e Rev. P. J. Bothwell to the Kuri-puni-Solway end of the circuit. The members’ returns showed an increase of five members on the quar'er —although there had been two deaths and three removals. 5 The Sunday school returns were the highest yet—3s6 at Masterton and 352 at Kuripum, an 1 -17 at .Solway. The need of more teachers at all schools was greatly felt. The income for the. quarter was over £200; :i debt of £l9 is carried forward. Harvest thanksgiving services were fixed for Ktir.ipuni on February, 21st; Solway, February 2Sth; Masterton and Rangitusr.au on March 14th. The Sunday School Anniversary at Kuripuni is to be"held on. March 21st. The annual appeal for the Sunday school and Young People’s Department will be made, through special envelopes to be supplied, in February. Tue old folks’ service is to be held on Sunday next .at the Methodist Church, in the morning. The Home and Foreign Missions ■e-tv-ns for 3 925 were a record —£353 Ss io. v omc and £I4S for foreign. The Revs. W. Beckett and P. J. Bothwell were appointed to represent the circuit at the annual conference in Dunedin. They will leave Masterton on February 22nd. The conference will open on. February 25tli. The officers wore heartily thanked by Mr Beckett for their loyal support during the past year. - Mr F. Rutter, who, for three years has rendered conspicuous service as circuit .steward, retired from office with t3io sincere appreciation of the whole circuit. Mr A. Thomas was elected to fill the vacancy. The next meeting is to -be held in Masterton on April 19tli.

SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNICS

The Sunday .sethool of the Kuripuni Methodist Church will hold its annual picnic on Friday next, at Solway. Motor conveyances, kindly supplied by Mr O. Shiite, will leave the church wit.h the children, and later convey parents and friends of the children to f-he picnic, ground. Refreshments during Jhe day will bo supplied to thechildren, .and hot water for tea purposes will be available to visitors. The annual picnic of the Solway Methodist Sunday .School is fixed for Saturday, the 30th. instant, and conveyances will leave the church at Solway for Te Whiti, the site of the picnic. The arrangements are in the hands of Mrs 1-3. Price, Mrs Cameron, Miss D. Hens’.iaw and Mr F. G. Rutter.
