CABINET CHANGES.

THREE NEW APPOINTMENTS. FURTHER SELECTIONS LATER. v,rsy Telegraph—press Association.) WELLINGTON, .Monday. The Prime Minister announced this afternoon that the following had been appointed to his Cabinet:— MR. ,1. A. YOUNG ('Hamilton), Minister of Health. MR. O. JIAW.KEX (Kgniont), Minister for Agriculture and State Forests. Mr. F. .J. ROLLESTOX (Timaru), Minister for Justice and Defence. Mr. Coates said, also, that the Hon. W. Dowse Stewart had been appointed At torn cy - G en era 1. From the above announcement it will be seen that none of the present members of the Cabinet, except those who are retiring voluntarily, are relinquishing office, immediately. It may be expected. however, .that, further changes will not lie long delayed. For instance, the stage seems to be set for the disappearance of Mi’. Nosworthv later in the year, and it will surprise’no one if Mr. Bollard eventually “tires of politics/” Then agaili there is the' High Commissionership and the tacr that' fenJames 'Parr’s passage home; lias been booked. So it seems that in a while the way will be open for the appointment of two or three more new men. Some •surprise might be expressed that the name of the next Leader of the Legislative Council has not been announced, but Sir I rancis Bell does not leave New Zealand for a couple of months yet and the Council does not meet till June, and, therefore, immediate action is not called for . Mr. Young, one of the new appointees, was chairman of committees in the last Parliament, and it is expected his successor will be Mr F. F. Hot-I.lv, unless that member is chosen for ministerial rank. It would cause no surprise if Mr. Hackly were offered a scat in the. Ministry, and another who might later on receive an appointment is Mr. K. -S. Williams. It can be taken as certain that the list of new ministers issued yesterday is merely a first instalment, and that other changes are to follow. Mr. M. Downie Stewart will become Minister for Finance in .April, and tins will necessitate his shedding some of his other work.
