STRANGERS QUARREL.
MURDER OUTSIDE GALE. AN ARREST MADE. MELBOURNE, Wednesday. While two electricians, Ernest William (23) and Jeane Macßobertson, both Americans, were lunching at a cafe, a man at a nearby table told them not to smoke. Words followed, and Williams left the table and walked outside. The man followed, and after an argument, it is alleged that the stranger put his hand in his hip pocket. 'Williams made a blow at him, and tried to grasp his hand in his pocket. Tho stranger is alleged to have pulled a revolver, wrapped in a handkerchief, from his pocket, and fired at Williams. The bullet pierced his heart, stable, who> was sitting in a shop on The stranger ran away, but a conthe opposite side of the road, pursued him and arrested him. Later, William R. Wallace, of Melbourne, was charged with the murder. —(P.A.) KILLED IN CROWDED STREET. (Received Thursday, 12.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE. This Day. Williams was murdered in daylight in a crowded street. When Wallace left °thc restaurant Williams accosted him and asked-him to apologise. The men struggled, and Wallace- kicked Williams on the body. Then he drew back and shot him. He made no determined effort to escape. Williams and Macßobertson are in business together as electricians. —P.A.
