FARMERS' DISTRIBUTING CO.

FINE NEW OFFICES. IN QUEEN STREET, MASTERTON. Exceedingly comfortable and commodious premises are now occupied by the Masterton branch of the Now Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Company, whose office and merchandise .staffs moved into the new building yesterday. Situated in Queen street north, in front of the large bulk store, the new premises are constructed of ferro-oni,-t fete. The front is finished in whirc plaster, and is of plain design, a little more than half of the frontage being occupied by two large plate-glass windows, which will be used to display the groceries and merchandise. A cantilever verandah shades the footpath. Entry to the general office is from Queen street, and the visitor immediately notices the abundance of light ■given by three skylights and 11 windows. An oak panelled counter, 22i‘i long separates the public space from the office, and, in a recess near the entrance, will be a. writing desk and chairs for the use of clients. On the left of the main door is the board room and stock office, which will be comfortably furnished, and next door is the manager’s room. This is of convenient size, and the furniture is in keeping with tl?e interior fittings. A telephone box, large strongroom, a separate room for the typistc, and men’s and women’s lavatory accommodation complete the office portion. Gas fires and heaters will give warmth in the winter, and excellent ventilation, provides plenty of cool air in summer. Above a nicely finished dado the walls are papered light grey. In the merchandise section there is everv opportunity fox" the attractive displav of goods. There is'over 500 ft of shelving, as well as a number of display stands. Ample counter space is provided. Plenty of light is given from seven skylights and eight windows. The walls are painted white, giving a bright impression. A small office is provided for the merchandise manager. Access from the main.office is gained through two swing doors, glass-panelled. Messrs Watson, Goodcr and Lee were the architects, and the contractors were Mr D. Andrews, builder; Mr C. N. Cole, painter and decorator; Mr G. Masters, plasterer; and Messrs Jones and Joyce, plumbers. Electric light was installed by Messrs Bilderbeck and Campbell.
