DANGEROUS CROSSINGS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The shocking accident which occurred at Fcatherston on Saturday •evening is another example of the futility of crossing alarm bells being er oet-od close to the actual crossing. It lias to be a very quiet day, and one lias to be driving a quiet running car to be able to hear these bells until right on to the crossing. I have'always eon•tteiukcd that these warnings should be -briefed two or three chains away from A motorist has then .simple time to stop, and I am sure many accidents would be avoided. .Thanking you for space.—l am, etc., E. J. YOUNG, .President Motor Traders’ Association (Wairarapa branch).
