UNIONS AND COMPANY.

UNEXPECTED DEVELOPMENT.

(Received Wednesday, 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. An unexpected development occurred

in the dispute which has been in existence rinee November last between the maritime unions and the Hunter River Steamship Company.

As the result of a conference between the unions it was decided to declare “black” the company’s vessel Hunter, which is at present in Mart’s docks for overhaul. The effect of the decision was seen

when members of the Painters’ and Dockers’ Unions were called on to perform certain work on the vessel. They •refused to do so.—(P.A.)
