LIFE’S TOO SHORT. He: "A man’s as old as he feels.” She: “A woman’s a's old as she looks.” He: “Maltexo keeps me young.” She: “Maltexo keeps me from looking old.” He: “Since we both agree, how about it?” She: “Yes, let us order another half-dozen jars. Life’s too short to grow old.” * 3 p——— 11 '"J fSS"" Did you know t'hat Lord Jellicoe was a devotee of the “weed?” Ho chiefly smokes cigarettes, but confines himself to one packet of ten per diem. Quite moderate! Yes. ' Some people smoke thrice that quantity between breakfast and bed. But despite the popularity of the “cig,” millions of smokers prefer the pipe. As to the injuriousness of smoking, it largely depends upon the tobacco. ■'The imported brands, as a rule, arc simply loaded with nicotine, so that their habitual use cannot be good. In that respect they differ materially from our New Zealand-grown tobaccos. These are toasted —-hence their delightful flavour and fragrance. Also, they are comparatively free from nicotine and do not burn the tongue, wreck the nerves or affect the heart. There is unquestionably a great future before these tobaccos, and already the growing, curing and manufacture of the leaf is becoming an important New Zealand industry, and farmers are finding a tobacco crop a profitable one to cultivate. Brands chiefly in demand are Riverhead Gold, mild; Navy Cut (Bulldog), medium; and Cut Plug No. 10, full. 36 For babies apply mixture of NAZOL md Olive Oil to nostrils and throat as precaution against Infantile Paralysis. *
