GERMAN REPUBLIC
VOTING FOR PRESIDENT.
THE FIRST ELECTION.
Press Association—Electric Teleeraph—Copyrighi
'(Received Monday, !).35 a.m.) BERLIN, Sunday.
Though millions of German men and women for tho first time in their lives to-day put a cross on the ballot paper for the President- of the Republic, no body expects any of tho seven candidates to obtain the absolute majority requisite for the election, but lira voting will give a clear idea, of whether the candidate elected in the second ballot on April 2<itli will be Republican or Monarchist. Even if a. Monarchist candidate, like the Vice-Chancellor Jar res, is elected on April 26th, this will not mean an immediate restoration of the Monarchy, but merely popular dissatisfaction at the Republican regime.—Aus. and N.Z.
