WHEAT POSITION REVIEWED. ■> (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. A fair quantity of wheat is being released by farmers, as they apparently realise that the drop in tlie price of flour in Australia will' probably mean lower prices being paid for the Domin-ion-grown stuff. A telegram received from Sydney to-day stated that flour was now worth £l3 12s 6d a ton, having come down £2 Ts 6d in about ton days. Speaking to a reporter to-day, a miller stated that he considered there would be a steadying up of the market shortly, as far as the millers were concerned. Their view was that it was of no use their buying wheat at the present figure, owing to the possibility of a further drop in the price in sympathy with the prices ruling elsewhere. Oats are quieter after the spurt at the beginning of the week, and they have conic back a shade again. The market for prompt remains about the same in,-value. The indications are, however that they are going up again. Chaff is a little weaker, and £3 is the. limit for good bright stuff. Peas arednll.. Perennial rye grass is firm at late rates. Cocksfoot continues to be dull. From 6d to 7d is the ruling price for good quality,%ndressed seed. The outside demand for potatoes is not very brisk, but might brighten up
at any time. The Sydney price for onions is £ls a ton, and'as a" consequence the price Ims risen locally. Onions are being nowquoted at i£6 10s a ton. Farmers, however, are inclined to hang on to thenstuff! Practically all the demand is coming from outside sources.
