WOOL MARKET.

CURTAILMENT DECIDED ON. (Received Saturday, 11.35 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The wool sellers have decided for the April sales on a curtailment by 50 per cent of the wool offered.—P.A. WANGANUI SALES. SATISFACTORY PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WA XGAXUI, Friday. A. jioor selection, consisting mostly of bush country wools, was featured at the Wanganui wool sale this evening. Though on a clean scour basis, the prices obtained were a decided improvement on the recent Napier sales. Most of the bales offered contained a. percentage of seed, and were in consequence of heavy condition. Light-con-ditioned wools, however, met with good competition, the, level of the value established at the Napier sales being equalled. (Germany and Bradford competed keenly in bellies and pieces, while competition in lambs’ wool was practically restricted to French and local buyers. In this division up to 22)d was obtained. The following range gives some idea of the prices that obtained:—lS-50, 17d to 20)d; 46-4 S, 16d to 18id; 44-46, 15UI to 17d; 40-44, 14d to 16d.

The number of bales passed was fairly heavy. LONDON SALES. STRONG COMPETITION. LONDON, Thursday. At the wool sales there was an average selection in all classes. Strong Continental competition was experienced for Merinos, which were firm. Crossbreds are unchanged. The New Zealand clip Ahakatuni realised 23d top price, average 22d. The,,Bradford tops market is dull. Holders of Merinos are rather firmer. 64’s quality realised 63d; 60’s, 58d; 56’s, 44d; 50’s, 37d; 46’s, 30)d; 40 ’<% 20)d. —Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
