MASTERTON HARRIER CLUB.

SEVENTH ANNUAL REPORT. The seventh annual report states: We have much pleasure nTpresenting the seventh annual report of the Masterton Harrier Club: The elub is to be congratulated on such a successful season, especially from a financial point of view, the balance sheet showing a balance on tlu: right, side, which reflects great credit on those responsible for the finances. Membership —The membership stands at about forty active members, the average attendance at runs being 23.5 through the season. Annual Ball.—The annual ball was a huge success, financially and socially, and we extend our heartiest congratulations to the ladies and all those who made it such a splendid function. Provincial Championship. —Our showing in this event was disappointing, but a great deal of valuable experience was gained, which will be of considerable help in the coming season. In this respect the club had too many races early in the season, most of the runners being stale when the event tools, place. This matter needs serious consideration before the new season.

Sanders Cup.—This cup was presented by Mr 11. Sanders, of Petone, for annual inter-club competition between Hutt Valley and this club, and was won easily by the former club. This is a move in the right direction, and we congratulate the cup donor and the Hutt Valley Club in bringing about such a fine' spirit of inter-club competition. Club 'Championship. —This event was won -by R. Campbell. He also won the five-mile district championship in 33.28,,and was successful in gaining the most’ number of wins, thereby winning outright . the Budge medal donated by Mr E. Reynolds, of Wellington. The 10mile district championship was won by E. McEachen. , The Club Cup.—This proved a great stimulus to attendance at runs, but only five reached thefinul. The cup was won outright by J/ Kitchener. Your committee strongly recommend a similar competition for the coming season. The Track. —The season has been a very successful ope Air s °mc' of our ‘members, and it is with pride we extend to R. A. Rose our heartiest congratulations on his .great performance in breaking the three-mile Australasian record.

'The retiring captain is L. A. Iveats, and the vice-captain, H. Orman, is eligible' for election to that position. Invitation Buns.-r-We extend to our many supporters our sincere thanks for the manner in which the members were entertained at tlicsd ruus. Our thanks are also due to the donors of prizes throughout the season. In conclusion, we wish to thank all those who have assisted to make the season the great success it was.
