'SERVICEABLE ’PLANES.
AMERICA’S POSITION. _ % MINISTER “BACKS DOWN.” WASHINGTON, Friday. The Secretary for War, Mr J. W. Weeks, having issued a statement alleging mat the War Department possessed 1200 serviceable ’planes, the House Aircraft Committee subpoenaed him to testify. Mr. Weeks later sent the committee an answer, admitting that the army possesses only 25 ’planes of the most modern type among 1500 of all kinds.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
